30 km or Bust – high altitude balloons, Franklin Military Academy, and ham radio

Norm Marshall, KN4CZZ, used ham radio to launch, get pictures, and track a balloon in his “30 km or Bust” project for the Franklin Military Academy where he teaches chemistry and computers. It is a Richmond public school. The October launch worked well with the balloon landing in a tree on the Northern Neck. He and some fellow teachers retrieved it a week later. The instrumentation was in good and re-usable condition. Stand by for the spring. One successful balloon launch deserves another.
